Repairing the exposed ceiling
Each compound application must dry before sanding and inspection. Primer follows the finishing work; it does not replace it.
The finishing scope may include ceiling repair, skim coating, sanding, primer and paint. Not every ceiling needs every stage.
Side lighting and inspection
Strong side light can reveal edges that need better feathering. Skim coating and primer create checkpoints before the finish coat.
What affects the estimate?
Area is one factor, but it does not describe the whole job. Height, access, number of rooms, furniture protection, coating, substrate damage and the finish required all contribute to the scope.
